Toys of Ringwood reach new heights for charity

Two members of staff at our very own Toys of Ringwood have raised over £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Frank Pursey and Vanessa Linda started fund-raising in March, and have been collecting donations in-store, on several Saturdays in the Furlong, and by running a Raffle with £300 of prizes kindly donated by Lego.

Their efforts culminated on Saturday 8th July, one of the hottest days of the year, when they took part in the Macmillan MegaHike of 23.4 miles from Weymouth to Corfe Castle. Over 1,000 walkers took part in the event, which Vanessa and Frank completed in 12 hours.

Vanessa has recently left Toys to work elsewhere in Ringwood, and Frank is retiring at the end of July. Vanessa says “In our fourteen years at Toys this has been the best supported fund raising project we have undertaken, and we are delighted to have attracted such strong support for such a worthy cause.”

Frank says donations will continue to be accepted in-store until the end of July, by which time they hope to have reached a total of £2,000.

The Lego Raffle was drawn on Monday 10th July by Furlong Centre Manager Lara Faramus, and the three prizes (worth £109.99, £99.99 and £89.99) were won by Roger, Mary and Wilfie.
